MISSION STATEMENT - "MUSICA NOVA" Russian-British MUSIC ACADEMY

"I recently attended and very much enjoy Musica Nova's Music Wonderland concert. Musica Nova not only provides an excellent standard of musical education to children and adults at low cost. They help families find musical instruments, help them finance purchasing instruments and help families find ways to seek out scholarships and assistance with fees for lessons. They have provided a valuable community service to local people in the area and in the 3 years that they have been based in Cromer St have introduced a number of local young children to music. Camden celebrates being a multi-cultural diverse borough and Musica Nova offers young musicians and artists aged 10-25 years old a great opportunity to enhance their knowledge of Russian and European music and cultural traditions. I wish you continued success with the Academy."
Statement of support from Councillor Nurul Islam, Mayor of Camden 2008-2009

"A music wonderland transforming young talented artists into the hottest stars of tomorrow"
Stuart Penney (London Independent Locals, 2004)

"Musica Nova Russian-British Music Academy" is a trade mark of Musica Nova Productions Limited.

"Musica Nova" Russian-British Music Academy was founded in 2001. Located round the corner from the New British Library in central London the academy’s mission is to advance music education, to support children’s creativity and to encourage young talented kids from all ethnic backgrounds to learn music in its complex as well as to promote talented artists. Our aim is to contribute to the local community by providing music education to local children, developing and fostering programs encouraging the greater appreciation and exchange of multicultural awareness through music and performing arts. By doing so we hope that more and more children will get access to the world of music and will stand up to gang crime and drug abuse.

The founder of the academy is Professor Evgenia Terentieva, a distinguished Russian born pianist, singer and composer, winner of international competitions and awards, including in 1995/96, a "Queen's Award" from the British Council and a scholarship to study in London with Professor Emeritus James Gibb at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she was awarded the prestigious Concert recital Diploma (Premier Prix).

"Musica Nova" Russian-British Music Academy is the only Russian bi-lingual full-time establishment in the UK that offers a full-time Monday-Saturday professional music education in London Central. The Academy aims to combine the best of English and Russian principles of teaching and to offer complete professional music education for children (starting as early as 3,5 years old) and adults (up to advanced professional level), with six categories of classes geared to maximise the potential of the student in musical styles as diverse as classics, jazz and pop.

The programmes are specially designed to lead and direct students from very first steps in music to Certificate (Grades 1 – 8) and Degree programmes (Performing and Teaching Diplomas) as well as concert performances. A specially tailored "Music Wonderland" programme is offered for the younger students. The Academy works in close collaboration with child psychologists. A special method of music education has been designed for children with dyslexia, speech and concentration problems.

Lessons take place in soundproof studios, equipped with pianos, elegantly designed to bring a sense of intimacy and discipline to the teaching. Both one-to-one and groups sessions, containing up to 8 students, are run at the academy to fit in with students and parent’s busy lifestyles.

Because of the unique academic and performing programmes, individual approach in education, exceptional professionalism of tutors with the participation of well-known Russian musicians as Guest artists, "Musica Nova" is rapidly gaining nationwide recognition and popularity among children and adults. Recent documentaries about the academy have been broadcast by BBC, major national and international Russian TV channels, "Russian Hour" programme from London on Digital Sky TV channel.

"Musica Nova" academic standards are exceptionally high. Teachers of the academy are famous musicians, highly qualified and experienced in their field. For the past academic years over 200 students have successfully completed Diploma Programmes and received national British Certificates. Some of them continue further music education in colleges and conservatoires in the UK, Italy, Russia and USA. "Musica Nova" has established creative partnership links with modelling agencies, record companies in the UK and Europe.

"Musica Nova" students have achieved considerable success and earned acknowledgement from celebrities including HRH Prince Mikhail of Kent, members of Parliament and Mohammed Al Fayed, as well as professional Russian musicians and artists, including famous violinist Yuri Zhislin, conductor Alexander Kantorov, the Honorary Actress of the Russian Federation Mrs. Natalia Mordkovitch.

For the past years students of the academy have won national music competitions and awards, and performed on famous international platforms in Great Britain and all over the world.
