MUSIC CLASSES FOR CHILDREN (24mnths - 3.8yrs)

"Music education should begin nine months before the birth of the child"
Z. Kodaly (Hungarian composer and educator)

The importance of music in the early years cannot be over-emphasised. Songs, parent’s warm voice and heartbeat fill the lives of even younger babies. Children’s music classes create an informal atmosphere, full of fun music sessions, which enable the children to participate in the joy of listening and moving to music. Our programme is focused on stimulating the child’s social, emotional and physical development through songs from the simplest, soothing lullaby to gentle action - songs, chants and games that connect music to their everyday world.

We offer a number of classes weekly for each of the following ages:

Basic Facts
  • Classes limited to 6 students
  • Student should attend with an adult
  • Lesson duration:
      Toddlers 45 minutes
      Older Twos 55 minutes

These lively lessons introduce children to music notation, instruments, games, dances, songs and much more. Class size is limited to 6 students. Each child must attend with an adult.

Toddlers 24 months – 30 months
Parents learn to relax with their babies and together enjoy musical games, circle dances, tactile songs and rhymes with a strong pulse. A variety of percussion instruments and sounds are introduced. Babies are held by a parent or career, who gently and rhythmically moves their limbs in time with the music and in relation to the lyrics. By doing this, the baby absorbs the music, rhythm and language.

30 months – 3 years
On completion of this programme, children will have learned a series of musical skills (tone, rhythm, pitch and so on).

Encouraged by an attending parent or adult, children are playfully engaged with thought-provoking action songs, finger rhythms, circle dances, walking and running to various pulses, imaginative games using soft toys, simple percussion instruments. The purpose of these activities is to expand the child’s language development and to stimulate creative thinking.
