As children develop independence, we encourage them to continue their activities with Music Wonderland Programme, which provides a foundation for a structured and enjoyable study. By the end of the Programme, children will have learned a series of musical skills, which they will be able to apply to their chosen instrument.
The programme is divided into 2 levels as listed below.
Info - Level I
- Classes limited to 5 students
- Lesson duration: 60 minutes
Level I "Listening - Seeing -Playing"
The programme presents:
- Dalcroze eurythmics
- vocal development
- creative movement, self-expression and imagination
- music games and improvisation
- an introduction to music instruments
- beginning to feel and recognise rhythmic notation
- understanding the contrasting musical concepts
Children entering Level I will be expected to complete at least a two terms course. Upon completion of Level I they automatically transfer to Level II.
Info - Level II
- Classes limited to 8 students
- Lesson duration: 60 minutes
- Pupils need to have a piano or keyboard at home
Level II "Pre-playing the instrument stage"
As children progress through the curriculum they extend their ability to:
- sing confidently and with good intonation
- begin to read notation of pitch
- begin to write pitch and rhythmic notation
- recognise and play simple chord sequences
- develop their "inner ear" and improvise
- understand musical concepts, form, structure and means of music expression
- begin to recognise various music genres and styles
- develop the co-ordination to play an instrument
